A long-term work permit is designed for foreign workers intending to work in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a period that exceeds 12 months up to 2 years. The long-term work permit is issued with an initial period of 2 years and is renewable in-country. The long-term work permit process for the DRC is multi-step and complex. Applicants must first obtain a work card with the Ministry of Labor and thereafter apply for the long-term work permit with the DRC Migration Authority. In addition to a work card, and a long-term work permit, applicants must also apply for an entry-exit visa that is valid for seven (7) months after the first use.
